Functional Skills – Practice Tasks

Lesson Aim 

Practice creating formulas, formatting and creating a graphs in MS Excel.

Your task is to download the spreadsheet below:

Meals Spreadsheet

Now you need to do the following:

  • Create formulas to calculate Profit Margin
  • Create formulas to calculate Total Profit
  • Format your spreadsheet (nb. remember to  format money as currency)
  • Sort your spreadsheet on course into alphabetical order
  • Create Graph for profit margin for each product
  • PDF print it in normal view (nb. you need to add a footer with your details)
  • PDF print it in formula view

Using MS Publisher

Aim of the Session

  • Creating flyers in Publisher (using text, pictures and word art)
  • Extended features of MS Publisher (Page folds, Backgrounds)
  • Manipulating images effectively

Task 1

You have 15 minutes to produce a Flyer/Poster promoting the boys Hockey practice on Thursdays 3:00 – 4:15. Meeting place – Outside sports college office and include a couple of images, and the school and sports college logos. 

Task 2

You will create a menu (using book fold) for an Indian Takeaway. The name of the restaurant could be Newsome Bhagis.  You will need to include appropriate images from the Internet.  Use the Information provided below to create your Menu.
